Click here for Membership Brochure (pdf) WHAT IS THE VERMONT GOVERNMENT FINANCE OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION? The Vermont Government Finance Officers' Association (VTGFOA) is an organization of professionals employed in the field of or associated with government finance. Members of VTGFOA have joined together to foster communication and education about current issues that affect state and local government. VTGFOA offers its members an opportunity to discover new sources of invaluable information. Through VTGFOA membership, individuals responsible for government fiscal policy and management, improve their knowledge, skills and performance.VTGFOA offers excellent services and programs in all functional areas of government financial management.
Membership is generally available to anyone who is interested in public finance. There are two categories of members: Governmental: All individuals or public officials employed by a state agency, municipality, quasi-governmental entity, or other public sector agency, in the field of public finance, accounting or fiscal management. Non-governmental: All individuals who have an interest in or work in a related field of public finance. This includes auditors, bankers, attorneys, educators, etc.
VTGFOA provides a direct information network to your peers and associates. It is committed to helping you broaden your government finance skills and knowledge through mutual involvement in: Seminars: Our local seminars are on current topics and trends that affect you in your professional responsibilities in government finance. Education: We offer educational courses at reasonable cost that help prepare you and your staff to keep abreast of the "how to's" in topics such as accounting, cash management, audits, financial reporting, and other public finance issues. We take pride in offering workshops that present industry professionals who offer instruction on issues that affect you every business day. Networking: VTGFOA has a website which provides information on VTGFOA and is a source for what is going on within the government finance community (NESGFOA and GFOA as well). VTGFOA also has a list serve to share information and ask questions amongst the membership. Affiliations: As a VTGFOA member you are also a member of the New England States GFOA. You will be able to attend professional and social opportunities through the New England organization. These include annual regional workshops and an annual three day conference. Annual Meeting: The annual business meeting is held in June each year. Combined with an educational workshop, association officers are elected and other business is conducted. It provides an excellent opportunity to network and socialize with your colleagues and associates.
