About the Vermont Government Finance Officers Association
The Vermont Government Finance Officers Association (VTGFOA) is an organization of professionals employed in the field of or associated with government finance in Vermont. Members of VTGFOA have joined together to foster communication and education about current topics impacting state and local government. VTGFOA is dedicated to enhancing and promoting the professional management of governments within the State for the public's benefit. Through VTGFOA membership, individuals responsible for government fiscal policy and management enhance their technical skills, broaden their knowledge and collaborate with colleagues. VTGFOA offers services and programs in all functional areas of government financial management.

Membership in VTGFOA
Membership is available to anyone whose career, studies or interests involve government financial management in Vermont. VTGFOA offers two categories of membership.
Governmental: All individuals or public officials employed by a state agency, a municipality, a quasi-governmental entity, or other public sector agency in the field of public finance, accounting or fiscal management.
Non-governmental: All individuals who have an interest in or work in a related field of public finance; including auditors, bankers, attorneys and educators.
Services Provided by VTGFOA
VTGFOA is committed to helping broaden its members' government finance skills and knowledge through mutual involvement in education, affiliations and networking.
Education: Regular workshops are designed to prepare attendees to meet the challenges of public financial management. VTGFOA takes pride in offering workshops led by industry professionals on relevant topics including accounting, cash management, financial reporting, and budgeting. The workshops are designed to qualify for continuing professional education (CPE) credit under the standards contained in Rule 9.2 of the Office of Professional Regulation of the State of Vermont.
The VTGFOA strives to locate its workshops throughout the State in an effort to bring quality education to all corners of Vermont.
Affiliations: Membership in the VTGFOA includes membership in the New England States' Government Finance Officers’ Association (NESGFOA). All professional and social events sponsored by the NESGFOA are available at membership rates. These events include regional workshops and an annual, three-day conference. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) provides additional resources including best practice guidance, training, publications and research. See the links tab to learn more about these organizations. These affiliations afford an opportunity to participate in programs that foster professional growth and career advancement.
Networking: Through a mutual interest in public finance and a dedication to advancing governmental accounting in the State of Vermont, members of VTGFOA comprise an unparalleled network of professionals. Combined with GFOA and NESGFOA, membership in VTGFOA provides access to peers who share your passions and concerns.
